The Embassy Suites Waikiki is one of the few hotels that have stayed OPEN during COVID19 is and located in the heart of Waikiki. It is a DoD approved Temporary Lodging hotel accommodation for Government travelers who also want to earn Hilton Honors points.
Upon arrival from Honolulu Airport, Hotel guests enjoy complimentary wine, beer and light snacks at the Evening Reception by the pool from 5:30-7:30 pm daily. It can be a popular spot by the pool due to the open bar with amazing ocean views and breezes.
The hotel recently completed a large scale renovation and I got a sneak peek at the 1 and 2 bedroom suites. Each suite has a large living room space (almost the size of a bedroom) with a couch and chair, dining table and dresser. The 2 bedroom suite has 3 queen beds and a single bed. There is plenty of room in the living room space to set up an another bed. There is a separate bar upon room entry that has a small sink, microwave and a small fridge.
1 and 2 bedroom suites have a generous sized living room. This 2 bedroom suite has a beautiful pool and ocean view with outdoor seating and Lanai (balcony). Enjoy beautiful sunsets from a pool view room.
The government room rates, currently $177 per diem lodging go quickly so you’ll have to book in advance. Some of rooms even have lanai’s that overlook the pool with partial ocean view.
Complimentary Internet and Breakfast buffet are included for those on TLA. And best part is that it’s also a Hilton Honors hotel where you can earn points toward future stays.
Keiki kids can enjoy the pool and the Jacuzzi and on major holidays they have special booth activities for Keiki. The hotel also has surfboards for use, in the front by the valet, since the beach is only a ½ a block away.
Every Friday night around 8:00pm, you can see the fireworks from the Hilton Hawaiian Village near the lagoon.

The location is truly ideal, in the heart of Waikiki, near the famous Waikiki Beach. Also walk to the Royal Hawaiian Shopping center where there’s lots of shopping and restaurant choices within 1-2 blocks. There’s an ABC general store, Roy’s restaurant, Yard house, Giovanni Pastrami sports bar, Ruth Chris steak house and Longs within one block of the hotel.
Parking runs about $40 a day. Optional parking is an 8 min walk down the street at the Hale Koa parking structure at the Government rate.
This is a popular hotel for military families that move here, or are stationed here, or are just visiting. Embassy Suites Waikiki is currently running a Kama’aina special for $229 a night for a 1 bedroom suite through June 30th, otherwise normally it’s $349 a night and they are offering a Military leisure rate, 25% off of the best available rate.
